  • Basic formating for large text, and bold text

Assignment 1 - Basic Content Creation On A Wiki

• Topics Covered:
  • Finding content in emails and turning it into wiki pages (After first day)
  • Example content from emails:
    • Thai border problems fact sheet
    • How to write a book review

Day 2

• More Wiki Formatting - Bold, italics, subheadings, bullets, links, links with other text
• Introduction to Adding Content To Wiki
  • Adding an email story
  • Adding title and subtitle to the top of the story
  • Adding bold, correcting errors
  • Wiki cross linking: Making links to the new story from other related topics already on the wiki
  • Navigating a wiki that has a hierarchy to it's Subjects

• Assignment 1B - Making Cross Links Between Wiki Pages For Assignemnt 1 Pages

Day 3

• Introduction To Advanced Searching on Google
  • Check how many pages are in google for a site with site:domainname
    • Example: site:chat11.com - 17700 pages in google
  • Limit your query to a single website: query site:domainname
    • Example: malaysia site:chat11.com
  • Searching for information about subdomains of a domain. Just do a site search for the main domain, and then see if any subdomains are listed, for example site:mybookcenter.com 46500
  • Searching for just pages from a specific subdomain, include the complete subdomain after the site: keyword, for example site:animals.mybookcenter.com 1650 pages

• Introduction to Website Traffic Analysis with Webalizer
• Introducton to Domain names and subdomains
• Setting up a DynDNS?Create account, and creating some DynDNS?Create subdomain names.
