American Vacations
Subjects > World > Countries?Create > United States
America needs a vacation!
Americans are working harder and longer than ever, while taking fewer and shorter vacations. We now work 142 more hours a year than we did in 1973. That's three and a half weeks of extra work each year.
Even when workers are entitled to vacationd ays, they often don't use them. In fact 26% of Americans don't take any vacation at all.
As a result of lost weekends and shrinking vacations, our health is suffering, our quality of life is suffering, and even our workplace productivity is suffering.
Corporate America cannot get away with this exploitation any longer! As a citizen you deserve better... you deserve your opportunity for fun in the sun.
America Works While The World Plays!
Research shows that the United States is the only major industrialized nation whose citizens are not entitled to vacation by law.
We work 100 hours more per year than the Japanese.... 350 hours a year (nearly 9 weeks) more than the avergage Europena.
Americans work more days, endure longer working hours, and enjoy less vacation time than the rest of the industrialized world.

Are You Working Yourself to Death?
Medical studies show a distinct correlation between a lack of vacation and increased likelihood of heart attacks, strokes, high blood pressure and other stress-related illnesses.
The Japanese even have a name for it, "karoshi" or literally "death from overwork."
Some estimates put the figure at up to 10,000 deaths a year from karoshi in Japan.
If you're not taking enough vacation time, could you be working yourself into an early grave?
