Steps To Christ Challenge 2007
Subjects > Religion
Do you have any goals like the following for 2007?
- Do you want to experience incredible renewable in your Christian life?
- Would you like to get help all year long with the various trials, tribulations, and challenges of your Christian walk?
- Would you like to be better prepared to share your Christian faith with others?
If so, consider taking the Steps To Christ Challenge 2007:
- Each month during 2007, make a commitment to read the book Steps to Christ from cover to cover.
- (For someone with average reading speed, 2-3 hours should be enough time. With 700 WPM reading speed, less than an hour would be required.)
- After you read it through, pray for God to give you an opportunity to share this book with someone.
- Hopefully, with the contents fresh in your mind, you can share the book with someone based on a remark that they've made that shows that they need something in this book. (Jesus promised the Holy Spirit would bring these things to our rememberance, if we do our part to study them first.) As you give them the book, you can even share with them why you were impressed that this book could help them.
- In your other Bible reading and Sabbath school classes, be alert for Bible verses that relate to the themes in Steps To Christ. Record the verses on the theme outline, or annotate your own copy of Steps To Christ in the margins with additional related Bible verses.
- Join (or start) a group study at your church focused on this book.
Ideas for a Bible focuserd group study of Steps To Christ:
- A 15 week program allows for a 1 week introduction, 13 weeks on each chapter, and 1 week conclusion.
- What is done at each meeting?
- Prayer thanking the Lord for each person attending, and for strength to continue with the commitment to study each chapter and come back to the group meeting.
- Participants discuss the chapter, with a focus on relevance to everyday life.
- Everyone is challenged each week to bring additional Bible verses to share that relate to the content of that weeks chapter.
- Each weeks verse contributions are recorded by the group leader.
- Participants are asked to share any practical ways they found during the week to apply the chapter to their life.
- Participants are invited to share any encounters with others where this book provided the answer they needed, or how they were impressed to share the book with another.
- A count of the number of copies given away by the group can be kept.
- These encounters can be recorded, and prayed for in succeeding weeks. If appropriate, they can be refered for visitation.
The group leader can make this study more meaningful by including some training time in each meeting. A lot of the training is to focus on what is probably the most difficult part of the study, which is to find additional Bible verses to go with each chapter. Another common complaint may be slow reading, or lack of remembering, and there are practical tips the group leader can share in these areas to help people improve their capability, and confidence, in their reading.
Here are some topics the group leader might cover at each meeting:
- 1. Introduction - Discuss the goals of the weekly study. Sharing an outline of the themes covered in each chapter.
- Titles that follow from Steps To Christ, or Happiness Digest
- 2. God's Love For Man (or, HD: Love Beyond Compare)
- Supplement: How to use a concordance to find related verses
- 3. The Sinner's Need of Christ (HD: Realizing Your Need)
