Spammers use this bait-and-switch technique to trick users into opening the spam by pretending to know the person or trying to lure the person with a "personal" subject line. How many times have you seen email from someone you don't know with a subject that begin with "Re:" as if they are a replying to a conversation that you have never had?
Other common subject lines include "Hey how are you?," "Urgent and Confidential," "We need to meet," "I have money for you," or "It snowed again."
Avoid this trick by never responding to unsolicited email. Even avoid opening it. Many online email services have a "Spam" button that can be used to report such messages. It may also be useful to set up blocked addresses.
