Worship has a definite purpose-it is a time of encountering God
There is not set order or form for Sabbath morning worship service, but certain elements should be present to create a meaningful worship service.
Worship includes:
- Adoration
- Proclamation
- Renewal
- Fellowship
- Participation
Worship involves planning
Practical applications of the elements of worship:
- Renewal - reflection, prayer, meditation, and application
- Participation - singing, prayer, giving, responsive reading, sharing time
- Prayer - speaking to God on behalf of the people
- Giving - offering appeal should be brief, intelligent, and worshipful
- Scripture is central to Christian experience and to worship
Preaching is traditional and central to Adventist worship
Worship should be planned so it progressestowards a point of commitment
Elders are shepherds and the principal work of a shepherd is to feed the flock.
Preaching must be hope centered! Bring hope into preaching by focus on the good news of the gospel of Jesus.
Yearly planning makes for a balance in the messages.
