Michael Savage's radio program, The Savage Nation, is heard on weekday afternoons on many conservative and independent AM radio stations. His home station is KNEW, AM 910 in San Francisco area.
Here are some highlights, along with commentary by Michael Savage on the Savage Nation:
...
Savage: "We have a problem with bull crap."
"Say Iraq once... Say border with Mexico twice."
President:
"Say mexico, say china, that's the problem."
President: I'm willing to sit down with both parties
"Sit down with the border patrol. Sit down with the Minutemen.
President: I don't think the Americans want a president who relies on polls.
"This is a whopper!"
President: The longer we wait to solve the problem, the more expensive it will be.
"So build a wall with mexico now. Get the Israeli engineers in here and build a wall now."
President: There are still some in Iraq who aren't happy with darkness, they want to go back to the old days of torture and mass graves. The iraqi people are starting to see the benefits of a free society, they had a government form today.
"Shi'ites tied to Iran. They'll turn on us."
President: But Iraq has people who are hard nosed killers. We will work with the Iraqi's to secure their future. A free Iraq is an important part of spreading peace. Democracy is taking hold.
"Oh yeah... Hmmm hmmm..."
"You must crush them like a bug. More Patton and less patent leather."
"I'm gagging here... I need an oxygen tank... I need an oxygen mask..."
President: I encouraged him to reach out to disaffected groups in Iraq.
"How about disaffected groups in America, like on the Arizona border?"
President: It's not easy to go from tyranny to a democracy. Since that time a lot of progress has been made, for the good of the region and the good of our country.
Question: The head of the family research council said that judicial filibusters are attacks against people of faith? What do you think of the role faith is playing in our political debates?
President: I think they are blocking my nominees because they don't like the track record of my nominees. They want judges who will rule from the bench, which is something I don't think judges should do... These people I nominated should get a vote. The role of religion in our society? It is a personal matter, and a person should be judged on how they live their life. It is how I've tried to live my life, through example. Faith plays an important part of my life individually. I think people oppose my nominees because of judicial philosophy.... I think faith is a personal issue, and I get great strength from my faith... The great thing about America David is that you should be able to worship any way you want, and even if you don't, you are still equally patriotic.
Question from John: What can you do about the high cost of Gasoline.
"Not one word about immigration. They are all stooges of the government. There is not an independent voice in the place."
President: Increased supply will take the pressure off the price. It's like the soldier in Fort Hood who told me to go lower the price of gasoline. I wish I could, but it doesn't work that way. It's going to take us a while to become less dependent on foreign sources of oil. We need an energy policy that shows that we can find energy at home in an environment friendly way.... Anwar is such a contentious issue. Liquified natural gas can only be transported when you liquify it and put it in solid form... We're spending money on clean coal technology... These are all long term projects.... Ten years ago if we had an energy strategy, we'd be able to diversify away from foreign dependence. Hopefully additional crude oil on the market will relieve the .
Question: If we are winning the war on terrorism, how do you explain that more people are dying of terrorist attacks?
President: We made the decision to defeat the terrorists abroad so we don't have to fight them at home. America and our coalition partners understand the stakes are very high. Our strategy is to stay on the offense, and to find them where they hide. The al quaeda network has been diminished, and we are slowly but surely dismantling that organization.... In the short term we use our troops to protect America, but in the long term we must defeat the hopelessness that lets them spread their ideas and recruit....
Question: What do you think of Putins willingness to provide missiles to Syria and nuclear components to Iran
President: I had a long talk with Vladimir about democracy. He said he strongly supports it, and I take him at his word. Condi Rice briefed me that she had a long discussion with Vladimir about democracy.
Savage: We just had minutemen on the border, it's an internation concern. It affects everyone in this nation, but not one journalist will ask the question. You don't have to agree with me that this issue is a critical one. But we have a journalism corp that won't ask the most pressing question. We have a giant government-media complex.
Savage: Why can't he get excited over any thing instead of bumbling.
Savage: I am sorry, I am going to violate my own show, I wish they could drop an oxygen mask. I don't think there is enough crank in California to keep the people awake listening to this... Can't pronounce the word "nuclear". Can't someone sit down and say "Nuke"... "Nuke-lear".
Question: John Bolton allegation acted inappropriately.
Savage: "Sit down your phony self... And now boys and girls lets listen to the emperor speak. They will all be wearing white pancake makeup, we are going to the stageplay called press conference."
Question: Getting back to social security.. What if social security reform doesn't include personal accounts?
President: Personal accounts have to be a part of a complete package. Our workers need to earn a better rate of return to deal with all the debt out there. Why should ownership only be confined to rich people? Why shouldn't people own and manage their own assets? Congress set one up for themselves. If it is good enough for Congress, it should be good enough for the workers. You should have the right to setup a personal savings account to earn a better rate of return than what the government can get. A person being able to build his or her own nest egg that the government can not spend. There is not a bank account where we hold your payroll taxes and give it back to you when you retire. All that is left when government gets done spending the surplus is a filing cabinet full of I.O.U.'s.
"We're supposed to listen to the gibberish about socialist security, the proper name for it."
"37 minutes into the conference, and the question is pregnany by it's absence: Immigration. This shows the whole thing is staged. The kabuki press conference continues, each playing his or her assigned role."
Question: Do you feel the number of troops you've kept there limiting your options elsewhere in the world.
President: ... Kim Jung Il....
"Use a nuke! Wipe him off the planet... Read George Orwell... Kim Jung Mentally Il. "
President: I felt a better approach would be to have people in the neighborhood involved, particularly china.
"Oh yeah, they are really helping us."
"Pen-in-sula... Nuke-lear.... Not peninsuler..."
President: We want to have five other, four other nations, dealing with him...
"Work in some Coletrain, I can't deal with it..."
President continues talking to Coletrain sax music, sounding like a nite club act...
"They are all crazy and liars, you are all a bunch of phoney crazy liars."
President: I am proud of my party, we are the party of ideas.
Savage: "Oh give me a break, they are the do nothing party."
Caller: WOR has cut you off, they are running the press conference without your comments.
Savage: "WOR cut me off? I am their biggest draw! Call them up, or write them that I am outraged. I am outdrawing the whole station. I am shocked that you would tell me that... Ah what are you going to do, it's all a phoney game."
Caller from KNEW 910: It's like a big country club, they don't care about us. The illegal immigrants are doing the constructions, the lawns, everything, there are no jobs.
Savage: Tell your senators, they'll be glad to hear it. Let's go back to the kabuki play.
President: .... China ....
Savage: Why don't you talk about the trade imbalance since you are talking about China.
President: We'll honor our commitment not to torture people... When we find someone who might do harm to America, we will detain them, the American people expect us to detain them... One of my concerns is that after September 11 the more relaxed we would all become, and assume there is not an enemy out there waiting to hit us. I am going to do everything I can to protect us. We are going to fight people before they harm us.
Question: I would like to ask for your view of the economy right now. Are the latest things just bumps in the road, or reasons for real concern.
President: I am concerned about the economy, our families and small business owners are paying higher gas prices at the gas pump. High gas prices are like a tax on the small business job creators, and a tax on families. I do think it has affected the economy. There is more to do to make sure we don't slip back into slow or negative reform. We must get legal reform, and I hope we get an asbestos reform bill. That will be an important bill to make sure our economy continues to grow. I am a strong believer that is in the interest in american job creators... 330 billion a year going unpaid by american taxpayers, which to me means we need to reform the tax code.... I am an optimistic fellow, based upon the experts that I listen to.
Question: No child left behind is woefully underfunded. Do you think it is working?
President: Yes, we are measuring and there is progress towards teaching people how to add subtract and read and write.. If we are going to spend federal money, we expect states.
"Is that his policy, no child left behind in Tiajuana."
Caller: I am listening to the press conference, and you are commenting the exact way I feel. He is talking like a wind up toy. His facial expressions are inappropriate to our problems.
"He is giving faces like an idiot. I said I wouldn't make comment, but there is only so much a man can take."
Caller: ... Everything is sanitized to such an extent, it is unreal....
"No one asking about the illegal immigration, the trade imbalance, the negativity of China... They are in their own little world like they are on a cruise ship.... I've had absolutely enough of this... Turn it back up, I'll take another dose...."
President: This is a case of republicans and democrats working together well....
"Oh my god, this is unbelievable to me... A.B.I. - Anything But Immigration...."
"Oh every child in America can learn if we get rid of the illegals sucking our schools dry with special education and bilingual education..."
Caller: I wanted to talk about why talk show ratings are down... In our area, sports dominates the airwaves...
"Thats what the idiots need sports, entertainment, and rap music, so anything can happen and the people won't care."
President: Five us convincing Kim Jung Il to get rid of his nuclear weapons....
"Nuke-lear.... What's with the smile and a laugh?"
President: We want to work with our allies to develop a concensus... I repeat to you our aim is to solve this problem diplomatically... The best way to solve this problem diplomatically is to work with the four other nations...
"Not one word about the Minutemen, the one that affects 90% of the Americans who are brain alive. It's a kabuki play."
President: Two people are working in your family, and the spouse dies early, all the money that the spouse is put into the system, and when the other spouse retires they get to choose one or the other of the benefits, but not both. So the money someone has put into the system their whole life loses out. A voluntary savings account becomes an asset you can leave to your spouse or your children...
President: Thank you all for your interest... God bless our country....
