I just did the upgrade and told it to take over my hardware buttons, and it did so, in fact so thoroughly that even the icons in "Programs" that used to go to the microsoft apps no longer do so!

I don't recall approving that the program also hijack the icons of other companies software, but that is what it did.....

Suggestion: This is nasty, since there is an "Informant Utils" folder under Programs with all the right shortcuts. Perhaps PI should make a "Microsoft PIM Utils" folder and put the old shortcuts there.

Why would anyone ever want to look at the Microsoft Pocket PC PIM Applications after seeing PI: I wanted to compare Microsoft's built in apps handling of the SE_VGA mode (unsupported by PI), but it will take some contortions to get back to the Microsoft apps.

Workaround that doesn't work: I tried going to the Settings -> Buttons apps and changing Button 3 (Messaging) to just "Tasks" (Not PITasks) (button 1 & 2 are PICalendar and PIContacts) but the button goes straight into PI, instead of the Microsoft app for tasks.

According to message in tech support forum: To turn it OFF, just open PI and go to the PI icon menu. Choose Support and UNCHECK the "Override System shortcuts" in 5.21 or "Make Default PIM" in 5.5 (we renamed it in 5.5

Some more recent explanation from akac:

• The Microsoft PIM apps are called system wide via a PIM shortcut. When you install PI it has the option to override those to PI so PI opens instead of the Microsoft PIMs. There is a full explanation on the install screen. Its also explained in the docs for PI.
• This goes in and changes the registry keys for these shortcuts to point to PI. ANY request for the Microsoft PIM apps will then use PI instead. This is by design - Microsoft's design and PI's design.
