A criminal in Kuala Lumpur, at the Mid-Valley Mega Mall, ran off with six diamond rings worth over US$10,000 after pretending to try them on. Diamond Platinum Goldsmith Shop is located on the ground floor of the mall. Brickfields OCPD ACP Zulhasnan Najib Baharuddin, unable to find the criminal, interrogated the salesperson to discover that the criminal allegedly claimed to be carrying a weapon.

City police making nightly raids to arrest 887 patrons of entertainment outlets on charges of peddling and using drugs. Deputy Minister Datuk Noh Omah said "We want nightspot operators to stop thinking of profits all the time. They should shoulder some responsibility for maintaining security because a safe and peaceful country is good for business."

Internal Security Act used to detain suspected criminals for over two years, will be used to detain them for an additional two years. Winners of the additional detention time include Nik Abdul Rahman Mustapha Afifi, Bakkery Mahmud, Abdul Murad Sudin, Zamzuri Sukirman, and Sabri Jaafar. They were allegedly involved in the Jemaah Islamiyah movement. Nothing however was alleged about their award of additional jail time, which was confirmed by Deputy Minister Datuk Noh Omar in a celebratory announcement in December 2004.
