The file names, and directory names, for your website can be useful to search engines and users. In addition to a well written title for your webpages, a well thought out web page name has several benefits:
- It's easy to remember what the page is about when you look at a list of your webpages
- It can help you organize your webpages
- It provides a clue to search engines what your page is about
- It may bring you more traffic for searches related to the words in your web page name.
When thinking about the name of your webpages, try to use page names that include 1 to 4 words related to the main topic of the page.
Avoid page1.htm and page2.htm type page names that show extreme lack of imagination.
