Israel releases 150 Palestinian prisoners in "Goodwill" gesture on December 27, 2004. This was part of an agreement with Egypt. Mahmood Abbas is calling for all of them to be released.
7000 Palestinians are still imprisoned on security related charges. Israel refuses to release the ones actually involved in attacks on Israel.
