I am trying to make it a habit to add pages to this site during the regular course of things I am doing anyhow. For example, when solving difficult HTML bugs. For several hours today, I worked on solving Bug Css Cant Click Links In Float Right Boxes . The other day I was working on some problems with HTML Encoding .
When I find difficult problems in HTML, or CSS, or things like that, I am trying to remember to write a page like this to document the solution, and things I looked at and read along the way to find a solution.
It was nice to have some notes of what I'd looked at earlier as I read more and more messages related to my topic.
You should do the same thing for any computer problems that come up in whatever development you are working on. I kept working on this article during the several hours I spent trying to solve the problem. I added links to most of the webpages I read, a quick note about each, examples of different solutions I tried, list of google searches I tried when looking for a solution, and finally a quick paragraph about what actually worked to solve the problem.... Of course I also let people know how to contact me, and I'm not too shy to ask them to send me a donation if the page saves them from wasting 3 or 4 hours like I did..... If you or I had 100 or 200 articles like this, I think we would be buried in contract programming work and referals.
I hope this idea helps you. Let me know what you think! - Garnet
