Instructions : How To Link To Amazon
Most of the features on this page are custom to this Wiki. Let me know if there is any additional feature you'd like to see me add. - HomePages/Garnet
It's very easy to make links to Amazon:
- You can use either of the following formats to link to a specific Amazon book by it's ISBN number. Most Wiki's support this feature:
ISBN:0195019199 gives this ISBN 0195019199
You can also use ISBN0195019199.
- This Wiki has some special extensions to make it easier to link to Amazon in more interesting ways:
- You can link to a browse category (see: http://www.browsenodes.com/) on Amazon. This will link to the new and used college textbooks browse node:
AMAZONBROWSE:465600 New and used college textbooks: creates a link like this New and used college textbooks
- You can link to a medium size picture of a book:
ISBNPICM0195019199 creates a picture like this
- You can link to a small size picture of a book:
ISBNPICT0195019199 creates a picture like this
- You can also create a text link to a specific book, with more interesting text than just the ISBN number:
ISBNTEXT:0195019199 Favorite Textbook: creates a text link like this Favorite Textbook
- You can also include the picture
ISBNPICMTEXT:0195019199 Favorite Textbook: creates a text link like this
- AMAZONVERTBOX:1025454: create a vertical box of items that floats right. The number between the :: is an AmazonBrowseNode . Amazon Browse Nodes can be found at the top of many category listing pages. This kind of a listing will always have the best sellers for that category on amazon.
- AMAZONVERTLBOX:913764: create a vertical box of items that floats left. This number is also a browse node. Note that not all browse nodes seem to return a list of products, and even when they do, sometimes they might default to a generic list of amazon categories anyhow.
- AMAZONSQUAREBOX:3000361: creates a square box with up to 9 items. This number is also a browse node.
- AMAZONHORZBOX:3343901: sets up a small horizontal box with a couple of items. This number is also an AmazonBrowseNode .
- AMAZONSEARCH:Submarines:Search for submarines:
creates text links that launch an Amazon search. The first string is what to search for, the second string is what to use as the text for the link. For example:
Search for submarines
Using this system and these enhanced commands, there is just no excuse to have a boring dull page with no pictures. Please spruce up your page with links to any amazon items that might go with whatever articles you want to write.
