I purchased a 1200 BTU air conditioner today at 11am, in the San Jose Fry's location, on Brokaw & Zanker & had it up & running for about 10 hours. Before the store closed today, I had called in & spoke with the supervisor (Damien) in the returns department. I was told, its okay to bring the unit in, he can work something out...I advised him the unit has not yet cooled off my cottage. Then when I got to the store, Damien tells me he needed to see it this was an open item. I advised him, in order for me to know if the unit would work I had to open it. Everything was there, & packed. Damien then says he can make an exception & give me a store credit. I advised him, I've already done a "check up" on that before bringing the unit back. The A/C department had already told me to go ahead & bring the unit back the next day to speak with Braben. So I tell Damien there is no other A/C stronger than the 1200 BTU...He says he can give me a store credit. I say no, I'd like my funds placed back on my VISA credit card. He says I would need to return back to the store, tomorrow to speak with Mike Q or Braben. I advised him if he can notify either one party. I dont understand.....
I would I know if the unit works at all if I do not open the unit...Clearly doesnt make sense! Also I, as a customer have a right. This unit was not only $200.00, it was $499.99 = $541.00. I will take this matter further, if needed. I work in customer service, & I understand there are people out there, that tend to abuse this "return policy" but its not fair to others, like me, who are honestly stating the truth. I could not want this anymore, I've not had this for a day. I just hope not to take this matter further, but if needed, I will.
Thank-you,
Ime Johns
