Q. How can I get Google to list my sites description properly?
A. You mean by removing the excerpted style of search results? You can't directly influence what Google displays, but you can get it to list your Dmoz description for that page. You do it by using the NOSNIPPETS metatag.
META NAME="GOOGLEBOT" CONTENT="NOSNIPPET"
That will probably leave your description blank on Google if it does not have a corresponding DMOZ directory entry.
By removing snippets, you also remove cached pages.
Q. How do I get Google to display readable site descriptions when I perform a search?
A. You can't. Currently, Google displays whatever it wants based upon page content and the search. The Google search results have been called, the Google Ransom Note Results since they read like a ransom note out of a bad movie.
