A massive relief operation is underway. SEveral dozen wounded western tourists now in the capital. Several dozen of the hundreds of bodies still litering the beach are western tourists. Safe drinking winter is still not available, all water supplies have been poluted by the sea.

  • The totals do include the totals in the rebel held areas. The number will climb because several thousand people are still missing. Will rebel held areas receive aid? Most aid will come from India and the U.S.. The U.S. base Diego Garcia is sending helicopters.

India is promising 6 to 8 helicopters to help Sri Lanka. U.S. is promising to send many helicopters from Diego Garcia.

Tourists are trying to get out of the country.
