Caller from Utah - Listener loves the program. Is wondering if there is any info regarding Robert Bigelow's ranch. For a while there was some scientists, and reports coming out of strange anomolies.... George - Says he is concentrating on a building a space hotel. Was financing NIDS that was looking at phenomenon.... Caller - It's a really strange area. I just thought it was strange there was reports of shapeshifters.
Caller - A couple of weeks ago, the caller had a premonition after listening to Richard Hoagland. It seems like the biggest thing holding the space program back was money. After Kennedy assassination, we rallied around going to the moon. There is probably only one person we could rally around today, he's been gathering millions, it was just a weird thing, of Lance Armstrong wanting to be the first person on Mars. This guy has the worldwide representation to bring people in to rally around him.
First Time Caller Gene from Iowa - On Katrina, we'll come out of this alright, American's are resilient. But one major question - In todays money how much did we spend rebuilding after WWII, people are going nuts about Katrina, we spend so much money overseas, isn't it time we invest in our own country. George - If we took back the money we spend on other countries to keep them happy, we could rebuild out infrastructure, and schools, overnight. They aren't going to pay back their loans, we'll write them off. We'll never collect.... Have you ever lent money to a friend, and have you been paid back? If you loan to them, just write it off, it's gone. Don't expect to get paid back. I've never asked for it back. Never once did somebody pay me back, it never happened.
West of the Rockies - Virginia in Salt Lake City - Story her grandmother told her. She was in bed late at night, and her son who was ill, her step son was in his cradle by his bed, very ill. A figure came up the stairs, it was floating, not touching the floor, it pointed at the cradle three times, then it turned around and floated away. He got well, and he was fine. The daughter went back into her cradle after he got well, then the daughter died three weeks later.
A satanist wants George to shedule an interview with the devil, which he might do because of morbid curiosity.
First Break
Richard Hoagland: At 12:27, Soyez docked successfully... There is something worng with this. I am watching NASA Select, which is made available to the outside world. Now anyone with a decent cable or satellite feed, gets a real time feed. They are advertising space flight participant. Remember the big deal about Dennis Tito, the one who spent $20 million against NASA kicking and screaming to the Russians, complaining about them taking a tourist into space and making money. Greg Olsen is in a totally different scenario, they are totally happy with him. Greg Olsen is as deep inside NASA to be an outsider as you can get. He developed infrared technologies used on all the spy satellites. He is the inner of the inner of the tours. He is getting rewarded with a space flight participant conference. It is a farce, this is no more representative of the average American going into space.
George: They think he is bringing an infrared camera to look for UFOs.
Hoagland: He never talked about this. If he is a double agent, and trying to take good pictures for us, I will be amazed and pleased, but I'm not holding my breath.
We also have proof of someone manipulating Hurricane Ophelia. It is on the enterprise mission blog now.
Second break
Discussing what makes a good science fiction movie.
Interviewing author and UFO researcher Kevin Randall about list of top science fiction movies voted by scientists:
- #10 - 1985 - Close Encounters Of The Third Kind - Included homage to the Bermuda Triangle.
- #9 - The Matrix
- #8 - 1953 - Original War of the Worlds - There is a book by Kurtis Peoples, "Watch the Skies". Dr. Clayton Forester is Gene Berry's role. Mystery science theatre 3000. "The idea that there could be life that has developed in completely other circumstances that you would never recognize is appealing as an idea." Problem: We beleive there is not a current civilaztion on Mars. George: Does Sci Fi have to be based on truth, and not part fantasy? - You can.
- #7 - 1951 - Director Robert Weiss - The Day the Earth Stood Still - This is a great movie with Michael Ready as a space man. This was set amid the cold war paranoia.
- #6 - The Terminator - Would you call that sci fi? No - That is fantasy, you have all the paradoxes of time travel entering in. I've always believed you could get around the grandfather paradox because you are the agent of change. Interestingly, as I was doing genealogical research, John Conner is one of my relatives.
- #5 - 1972 Solaris - About a pscyhologist who travels to a base on a remote planet. Remade in 2002 with George Clooney.
- #4 - 1979 Alien - Would you call that one sci fi? Isaac Assimov said there is a flaw in that film - You just put on your space suit, and let all the air out of the ship and see how the alien does in a vacuum. There is also a lot of wasted space in that ship. The other interesting thing is that the alien comes from the zeta reticuli star system, it's an interesting coincidence.
- #3 - 1977, 1980 - Star Wars - Wonderful choices, what can you say about Star Wars? What a marvelous fun film. 28 years ago. Possible gaff: Han Solo made a run in 3 parsecs, eventhough a parsec is a unit of distance, and not time. There was a spoof called hardware wars, where R2D2 is a trash compactor.
- #2 - 2001 A Space Odysey - 1968 - Very close second. The thing here is a film in the 1960s with what they thought things were supposed to be like in 2001, they weren't correct. No colonies on the moon, no travel to Jupiter. If we'd continued the progression in space travel, we would have had a base on the moon. Asimov predicted in the 30's that society is against space travel.
- #1 - 1982 - Bladerunner - What is special about this one? The feel of the film, the story lines, a look at the way society develops in the film. This was a runaway favorite for first.
Where is Forbidden Planet? How about Contact?
