Can You Order In English At An American Burger King Restaurant, Or Must You Learn Spanish To Order Fast Food
Comments on my visit 11/2/2005 to a Marin County California Burger King
They need to concentrate on getting people who can speak English. The first drive through attendant said they didn't have Cherry Coke, but in a voice that was barely audible outside of the drive through window. She was incapable of understanding the question, "What else do you have?" Unfortunately, I dont speak any variant of Spanish, so there wasn't much chance of her being able to understand me. This being America, and an American restaurant, I would have expected to be able to communicate in English.
She had to call a supervisor, and they had to discuss the situation at length and figure out if it was my order the screen of their cash register. After they figured it out, the supervisor also told me that they were out of the Cherry Coke. I asked her, as clearly as a I could, "Whjat else do you have?" Again, I was greated with great confusion, they both disappeared, and a third worker appears to tell me again that they don't have Cherry Coke. Fortunately, this worker was able to understand my question, and told me that they had White Coke. Sure, that sounds great, please give me that... Finally I had my food and was able to leave.
The BK Veggie Burger was very good. In their favor, they made the burger very sloppy, and it left a big stain in the middle of my shirt on the second bite!
Unfortunately the survey is just a touch tone thing, you never get a chance to record a personal message. Still, go ahead and qualify for your free sandwich.
