He had heard that you get more oxygen from all the lawns than you get from the trees.
Someone else commented that when the lawns are cut, that gives off tremendous amount of pollution from ozone.
There used to be a lot of orange trees in Orange county, in the 1950's and 1960's. Breathing the air in that area could be very painful.
