  • This was an incredible number of direct reports: 3 to 6 would have been a handful, modern management science would consider 12 direct reports to be too many. This is part of what made Jesus and his disciples so amazing, and probably attracted much attention from the villagers.

• 5. The choice resulted in the twelve becoming Apostles (Page 18)

• The Steps Of Preparation For Service As Christ's Disciples
  • The First Step of Discipleship - An invitation, "Follow me"
  • The Second Step of Ambassadorship - A course of practical training making the chosen into messengers or ambassadors of Christ, who said "Go preach, saying, the kingdom of heaven is at hand."
  • The Third State of Apostleship - Final stage receives it's confirmation upon Christ's departure from earth.

  • They followed that they might be with Jesus
  • They followed that they might preach
  • Christ's instructions to the twelve - Care not, fear not

      • 1. Equipment - "He charged them that they should take nothing for their journey, save a staff only" Matt 10:10
      • 2. Disposition - "In what place soever ye enter into an house, there abide till ye depart from that place" Mark 6:10 . There was to be no picking shelter and food, and what was provided was to be sufficient, discomfort was not a reason to look around. They should be concentrating on their message, not on their comforts.
      • 3. Sacrament of Failure - "Whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when he depart thence, shake off the dust under your feetfora testimony against them" Mark 6:11
