In April 2004, Google's Adsense program announced that they are making big changes to their program. One interesting thing is that prices of ads will be adjusted depending on how they perceive the content on a site:
What is the likelyhood that this will increase your earnings? Could this be the end of an era in Adsense? Given that Yahoo is rumored to be actively penalizing sites that mirror reviews of affiliate programs, will it make it harder than ever to make sites that perform well on traffic from all sources? Will this change make it more difficult to predict the performance of a new site based on similar pages?
Even google admits
What other programs do we hear this from? Given that Google is very opaque and does not give substantive details about important issues regarding adsense, how do you plan to deal with this? For example, did you know that there are "stop words" that, if found on your page, are likely to prevent it from ever showing anything other than a public service ad? Google Adword's early bad publicity, due to juxtaposing luggage ads with a story about a gruesome event involving a suitcase, among others, has made them very inflexible on this, while continuing to conceal exactly the list of forbidden keywords, leaving webmasters to guess and grope.
